To strengthen our Human Resources team we are looking for a
Senior Manager HR
(32 or 36 hours, based in the Hague, The Netherlands)
In this role, you will lead the HR Team to optimise and professionalise the enormously fast-changing organisation. You mainly operate at strategic and tactical level but are not afraid to take on operational activities where necessary.
Human Resources (HR) at Cordaid contributes to the organization's success and goals by providing policies, advice, tools, and support for employment, employee engagement, performance and wellbeing. To achieve this, we manage and facilitate the employee life cycle from recruitment, onboarding, development, wellbeing and belongingness to the exit of employees. We provide strategic HR advice, develop HR policies, offer HR support and manage HR administration.
Additionally, Cordaid's organization is undergoing a transformation, becoming more and more locally led and decentralized where programs are executed. As a result, the Global Office and the Country Offices are transforming. HR guides and supports in this transformation and facilitates the people side of the change.
The Global Office HR team consists currently of 1 Senior Manager HR, 1 HR Advisor, 1 HR Administrator, 1 HR Officer Expatriate Services, 1 HR Organisational Expert and 1 Junior HR Officer. In addition you are responsible for the functional steering of HR colleagues in Cordaid's country offices. The Senior Manager is part of the Senior Management Team and reports to the Executive Director/CEO of Cordaid.

- You are responsible for the continuation of the ongoing HR business in the transition phase towards a future renewed HR functionality Cordaid world-wide. Acknowledges the necessary changes and defines the desired situation and direction of change. Advices with the HR team the Board of Directors on the analysis and recommendations regarding the future HR functionality and organisational design of Cordaid.
- You focus on the strategic advice and work regarding the transitioning and managing the change towards a new corporate organisational structure and (leadership) culture.
- You monitor the effectiveness of the Cordaid leadership style. You advice Management on their leadership skills and leading employees in a fast changing organisation. Provides feedback and input to Cordaid’s organisation culture development.
- You manage in accordance with the management style and social policy of Cordaid, focused on the continuation of productivity and satisfaction of the HR employees. You act as a coach and sparring partner for the HR professionals.
- You develop a strategic training & development plan according to budget and strategic goals of the organization.
- You advise the CEO and join the work council consultations.
- You check whether labour decisions comply with laws and regulations. Recognizes legal problems and offers solutions.
- Acts as HR primus in the Cordaid Safety and Security Committee.
- Chair of the Cordaid Integrity Committee.
Functie-eisen en profiel
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in relevant expertise field.
- At least 10 years of relevant working experience at Master level in an international environment.
- Knowledge and extensive experience of (international) Human Resources Management and organizational change.
- Social/Communication skills to advise and to spar with Board of Directors and management, to create support, to coordinate and to acquire contributions from others.
- For the HR team: a people-oriented attitude and eager to get the best out of people, giving them room for autonomy and development. Act as a lead and sparring partner.
- Strong interpersonal skills and professional maturity.
- Flexible attitude, able to work in constantly changing and unpredictable circumstances and ability to cope with changes in priorities.
- Be diplomatic, culturally sensitive, and result-oriented in dealing with the Works Council, Board and other stakeholders.
- Good listener and able to make bridges between different stakeholders.
- Excellent knowledge of the Dutch labour law.
- Excellent Dutch and English language writing and communications skills. Good French is a pré.
